Yonex Armortec 600 Badminton Racquet Review
![Yonex-Armortec-600-Racquet Yonex Armortec 600 Badminton Racquet](https://badminton-coach.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Yonex-Armortec-600-Racquet.jpg)
Yonex Armortec 600 Badminton Racquet
The Armortec range of racquets has improved in 2009 with the introduction of 4 new racquets – the 600, 70MG, 50 and 30.
The Yonex Armortec 600 is positioned towards the top of the range. As I already utilise Armortec Power 900 I was looking forrad to comparing these racquets.
Directly out of the bag the racquet felt dainty. It's well counterbalanced, nice graphics with a mix of sliver, regal and black. It'south strung reasonably tight although considerably less than the 24 lbs tension in my racquet so I knew I would have to make adjustments to my shots.
The racquet is available every bit a 4U G4. This means the weight is around 81-85g and the grip size is small. This didn't matter as it's the same as my 900 although for this test I didn't build the grip to my specification.
As y'all would expect from a racquet at this level, it performed admirably in all areas. The dainty balance meant information technology was quick although not equally fast as a Nano series racquet. There's plenty of power and a fiddling actress "kicking" courtesy of the flexible shaft.
When I chose this racquet, I hadn't read the specification in the Yonex catalogue then I was very surprised to read it had a flexible shaft – I really hadn't noticed during my test. Possibly I'one thousand so familiar with the Yonex range now having tested a number of their racquets that it'southward like going over quondam ground again – very familiar.
At that place were no surprises with this racquet, it's a good solid racquet with enough to offer y'all. It's one of those racquets that you know yous tin can depend on no matter what your opponent throws at you. With tighter stringing and a grip I'd be hard pushed to distinguish this from my Power 900, it's that good.
RRP is £110 and so expect to pay under £100. Value for money I'd rate the Yonex Armortec 600 as a 5 star racquet – my first 5 star rating. Information technology's got everything although I suspect that power players may avoid this racquet because they don't need the flexible shaft. If truth exist told, at that place are very few out and out power players in league badminton. There are i or two very hard hitters only if every player'southward smash could be analysed, just a small percentage would qualify in this section. So, overall this racquet will suit the majority of players.
Considering racquet choice is so personal I urge yous to endeavour as many equally you tin before making your choice. Notice a retailer who supplies demo racquets so yous get the all-time chance of finding the right one for you. Unless y'all have a smaller budget, make sure the Armortec 600 is on your list to try this season, yous'll exist glad you did.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for this review. My Armortec 600 is currently away for restringing and I miss it!
I've had this noise for almost 8 years at present, but I worry about information technology breaking and besides non having a noise when it goes off for restringing.
Since this noise is now discontinued, tin can you recommend a similar racket currently on the marketplace?
Thanks,
Rebecca
It is very difficult to recollect of a racket that compared to the wonderful Armortec 600. All I can suggest is that y'all test lots of rackets until y'all experience a dissonance fits you lot best. This time, buy two if y'all can.
Hi Paul,
Simply from your experience if you had to pick 1 or 2 yonex rackets in the current production which play very similar to the amortec 600 what would you say immediately. Doesn't take to exist Yonex if you call up in that location's another which also plays similar.
Cheers,
Suki
That'south a difficult question to answer because it is and so long ago since I tested Armortec 600. I honestly cannot remember how it feels seeing every bit I take tested so many rackets since so.
Hi Paul,
I like reading the racket reviews on your forum. I have a questions that yous might help me with. I am comfortable with lower tensions (21/22 lbs) than most. I like head heavy rackets considering I tin get deeper angles when I drib or smash. I also put a lot of wrist in my activeness and prefer command and accurate placement when I play.
I am thinking of buying the Armortec 600 and was wondering if the combination of flexible shaft and lower tension be wrong for a my type of game.
Thanks.

Delight read my commodity on how to choose a racket as it will assist y'all a lot.
Nobody tin can safely predict whether a certain racket will work for you or non. Merely you can decide past trying it. If you make up one's mind to purchase AT600 and it works, then you lot have made a good decision. If not, figure out why you don't like the racket and sell information technology. Put the money to some other racket with unlike characteristics.
Sadly I am non capable of telling whatsoever player which noise they should apply to suit their particular style of play. Only you can practice that.
To your success

Hi Paul, I have a question most flexibility of AT600 compare to Arcsaber 7. I know that these two rackets have a different flexibility past specs, but i need to know how AT600 feel in hand on the court. In this time I use Arc vii and I can endeavour slightly caput heavier racket. My local retailer has not demo piece of AT600. Cheers for your assist.
Marian
There is very trivial difference in flexibility between these two racquets. AT600 is a lovely racquet but I don't know whether it wil be right for you.
Is in that location any histrion you know who uses AT600? If and then, run across if you can test their racquet and make a decision after that.
Let me know what you do.
Paul
Hi Paul,
I gone to the run a risk and I bought AT600 without testing before. It was a really good run a risk. AT600 is (like you lot wrote) lovely dissonance. It's more powerfull compare to Arcsaber seven and information technology is fast like my first yonex racket NS7000 (IMHO). Merely 1 matter where I need more do is my netplay, with Arc7 information technology was easier… Finally, AT600 was very good choice for me 🙂
Thank you Paul for your assist and review.
Congratulations on your new purchase. I'g so pleased you like it.
Let'south hope this is the beginning of a great badminton yr for you.
Paul
Hi,
Yous mention that players should always try before they buy just how practise we practise that? With more than and more sports shops closing and fewer of the remaining stocking any option of badminton racquets how does the average histrion go to try a range of racquets to see which suits?
I'm looking to upgrade and hoping to find a deal on a suitable racquet from Yonex, whether that be an Arcsaber, Armortec, Nanospeed or Voltric I couldn't say because I've no fashion at present of getting whatsoever of these onto a courtroom to try some play.
Would appreciate your communication on how to accost this matter for a London-based player.
Many thanks to you or anyone else who can help
Sean

You are right in that many sports shops are struggling or closing. This is due to the economic conditions only moreso because of a couple of factors.
i) online discounters like Fundamental Sports creating a market place where there is no customer loyalty and uncompetitive do
2) insufficient knowledge of the game in many sports shops which means many players look elsewhere.
What I suggest is that you check Yonex Britain website. They have a list of retailers in your area. Phone call the store to check whether they take demo racquets.
You lot besides need to remember that sports shops accept to pay for demo racquets, regardless of make – they are not a freebie. There are a lot of players that borrow a demo racquet and then buy from an online discounter because they can get the product cheaper. This is wrong! You lot should back up the retailer who lends you lot the racquet every bit they are trying harder to help you make the correct choices. Many of the online suppliers practice not take demo racquets and therefore, in some respects do not deserve your business. After all, what is the cost of you making a wrong choice and therefore have to sell your new racquet and try again?
Bottom line hither is that if you find a retailer that trys hard to await after you, reward them with your order so they stay in business organisation. If you don't, it won't be long before they are extinct.
Hope this helps Sean.
Past the manner, if y'all come up along to my Residential Coaching Weekend, I always have a good range of Yonex demo racquets which you can examination all weekend without charge!
Permit me know how you get on.
To your success
Paul
Thanks Paul, information technology is such a shame that the Internet has brought such calamity to the real world client service feel of retail.
Even more heartening (non!) I've just chosen 2 shops on the Yonex site and got no reply and a dead tone 🙁
Got through to acesports and so peradventure get a chance to attempt out some racquets at their store. Will attempt Gefen sports too equally it appears to accept neat pedigree.
I'm all for supporting the shops simply when online savings are £x's information technology'd be foolish non to take upwards the offer. You'd also have to question the business model of a shop having to add so much more margin per item.
Some intersting points raised hither.
Recollect, this is my opinion merely here goes. If I tin can find a local store that lends me demo racquets but charges £10 extra, I'll purchase from them whatsoever solar day. They are obviously more interested in my welfare as a player by going the extra mile and cost to allow me to make the correct conclusion when choosing a racquet.
Nearly of the online retailers exercise non have demo racquets. Their pile it high and sell it cheap strategy is a bad ane. You meet, if y'all try to be the cheapest in the market, all it takes is another retailer to undercut and y'all've lost the business organisation. Inexpensive prices destroys loyalty.
I agree that the internet tin be very good for us when we're trying to detect a deal. Simply, if yous find the correct local retailer, support them because they volition work harder to continue your custom, otherwise they don't deserve it. But, shopping purely on price isn't always the best manner.
Some shoppers forget all the hassle they accept to go through when something goes wrong. That's when they have to make the phone calls, suit to ship the goods back to the retailer, pay the courier costs etc. That's when the local retailer shines.
Paul
howdy paul,im a beginner, play about four years, im just want to know which ane is improve… AR-600 or voltric70..i encounter u rate the vc-lxx 4.v..i like single game and offensive,
one more than thing how to know the yonex is genuine..last time i purchase ar900 9 times cheaper than original price but i know it counterfeit.. so i want to forbid myself from ownership counterfeit dissonance which sold as 18-carat noise price
Thank you for your question.
As a beginner why practise you wish to spend so much coin on racquets?
Both racquets are extremely good. AT600 was my first v star rated racquet. I also beloved the Voltric. It'southward not a case of which is better considering each player/autobus you ask may have a different reply.
Yonex are withdrawing the Armortec range this yr then you could pick up the AT600 at a really good cost. This volition certainly go far the nearly appealing racquet from a value perspective.
Sorry I tin can't give yous the answer you desire. All players are unlike and accept unlike tastes. Otherwise Yonex would make 1 racquet and we'd all play with that.
Consider investing in coaching, if you haven't already. Perchance even look at a cheaper racquet initially and spend the difference on coaching. Yous may find that you better so much faster by doing so.
To your success.
Paul
Wahey..finally got myself an AT600 after much debating..£65 and so a great deal. Cannot await to test it out at present. Thanks Paul for the review – it certainly played a part in my decision to buy this racket. Time to practise hard..
Jin
Congratulations Jin, I hope the racquet really helps your game.

I've seen a Yonex flyer at my local racket dealer that has pics and basic info on the Voltric v and seven. The 7 has the aforementioned weight as the AT600 and the 5 is the next weight bracket up. Both are medium stiff, caput heavy etc, only don't appear to have the higher finish stuff seen in the Voltric seventy. I remember they'll replace the AT70 MG and AT50 to exist honest.
On another note, I've been looking at the AT600 for a while in the hope it will become cheaper, which doesn't announced to be happening at the moment. I have found the Armortec Tour, which appears to have been released as a different coloured version of the AT600 with the verbal same spec otherwise. Information technology'southward also around £10 cheaper, which may not seem a lot, but is still a saving! Anyway, merely thought I'd throw that update in there..if I discover anything else I'll post it here

How-do-you-do Paul,
My friend was thinking of getting ane of these and I was wondering if the flexible shaft would feature in netplay, slowing response, as he is rather fond of making tight net shots. I'grand a petty concerned as I've seen this racket in shops and discern its qualities. Its shaft is really Actually flexible. Naught similar any racket I've handled earlier. As ever, looking forward to and highly appreciate your feedback!
Tim

Around the net surface area, a flexible shafted racquet is not going to exist detrimental to play. There isn't such a huge difference between a flexible shafted racquet and a stiff shaft. Whilst there is more than curve in the shaft, nosotros're not talking nigh a huge amount. Conduct in listen the AT600 was my first five star racquet considering it did everything very well indeed. Normally I use stiff shafted racquets and I very nearly changed my racquet because the AT600 was that impressive.
However, at the end of the solar day choosing a racquet is personal so your friend really needs to make up one's mind what characteristics in a racquet suit their game.
Paul
Hullo Paul,
Thanks for the comment. BTW, incomparison which one is better between AT600 vs. BS10?? Both got v Stars rating by you lot and then which one is the best?? Only it seems that AT600 volition be out of the list since the new Voltric lxx volition be out presently..
I think i hv to wait for the VT70 exist launched and getting some personal review by the users and mayhap by yourself of course.. Thanks inadvance!!
Rgds
One
I'd wait for the Voltric 70 reviews and then look once again.
Both racquets are superb. Question is practise you want a potent or flexible shaft?
Paul
I personnally call up that this racket is actually squeamish for a double role player. Not that a unmarried player can't use information technology only I really dubiousness that the AR-600 will be the beginning choice when it comes to unmarried games.
If you lot have a lack of power when smashing, this racket can help a lot with its flexible shaft.
Merely it is quite deadening when you need to defend or play at the cyberspace. This is non the finish of the world as good technic can assistance yous get over information technology.
Hope this help.
Jonathan.
Jonathan
Interesting comments. I e'er say that racquet choice is very personal.
My reviews are based on my personal thoughts about the racquet in terms of its power to deliver. I've known players cull a racquet on this alone and learn to adapt to adapt the game they are playing.
I'm sure there are players reading this who would disagree with both of us and never choose this racquet – back to personal choice.
Paul
Hi Paul,
I've been following twelvemonth website since early on of this year n learnt a lot from yr reviews n comments.. BTW, i'one thousand looking for a new racket north i call back this AT600 suits me well based on the spec due north reviews.
But i'm also getting recommendation for Victor BS10 which maybe quite like with AT600 and some other one more is Yonex new model – The VOLTRIC 70..
What exercise you think is the best (in year opinion) amidst those 3 (eventhough Voltric lxx hasn't released yet)?? Should i wait for the VT70 or just go for AT600 or BS10??
I
At the moment I don't have any information on Voltric lxx. Unless y'all're desperate, I advise y'all wait a few weeks.
Every bit yet, there is no release engagement for Voltric 70 in UK then I cannot advise you when I will review this new racquet. I am looking forward to it.
Feel free to contact me over again with your question.

Welcome to my blog.
Aye the Yonex AT600 is a very good dissonance. I'grand pleased you similar it then much. I recollect you were wise to go along string tension lower bearing in mind you play with plastic shuttles. Glad you as well tested string to discover what worked best for yous.
That's what this game is all about – personal gustatory modality.
Please continue to add comments to my blog and join the forum where you tin can talk to other like-minded badminton players.

Oh sad, I forget to say ane thing which is very of import for me merely may sound ridiculous for other players.
As an unseeded role player, I have the obligation to play with plastic shuttles (Mavis 300) during Belgian tournaments (I don't know if it's the case in Great britain) simply for some occasions, I have to change for feathers shuttles. To tell you the truth, I'yard quite reluctant to play with feathers shuttles 'cause I don't take the same awareness of play but with my AR-600, I performed quite well. I was really astonished by the results I've got and I can assure yous that all the credit goes to my racquet.
John
Hello John
This "sensation of play" could be a effect of the lower tension in your racket. Whilst it'due south OK for feathers at effectually 20lbs, it's probably a bit on the low side. Also, if you lot use plastic shuttles more often, technique is slightly different because the shuttle does non respind the same.
If y'all ever get the run a risk to play with plumage shuttles on a regular ground I'd exist surprised if yous enjoyed the game played with plastic shuttles once more.
To your success
Paul
Thank you very much for your review.
I'll get mine adjacent week. Can't await to play with it.
John
Jonathan
I promise y'all'll love it as much as I did when I tested and reviewed it.
I believe it'due south a seriously underrated racket and should take received far more praise and discussion than information technology's got.
Let me know how you're doing when you've had the racket for a while.
To your success.
Paul
Hullo Paul 🙂
Once again, thank yous very much for your review. I know how personal the choice of a racquet can be only it really helped me to choose mine.
I think you lot describe the AR-600 very well in your review and I don't have much to add haha.
I'm really satisfied with it and I volition surely buy the same model if my actual AR-600 breaks. Information technology's really nice to accept a racquet that responds and then well.
But I had one "major trouble" with it, I had to get in re-strung afterward my first game session. I didn't experience very comfortable with the original BG-65 on it. Now I'm using BG-68 Titanium with 9KG of tension which is effectually 20lbs if I'm not mistaken. It may not be the case for everyone, it may be due to my poor level of play haha.
Anyway, afterward nearly i month of use, it works fine and I'm more happy.
John
PS: hope my English is understandable haha.
